If You Are a Community Creator…
You are listening to The Novel Writing Podcast, episode 139. I'm your host, Colleen Mitchell. Grab a cup, cozy up, and let's get to writing!
Series Overview
Today's episode is the third in our series about the possible results you might get by taking the Writing Persona Quiz, linked in the description.
Community Creator
This is for you if you are a COMMUNITY CREATOR! Don't forget that if you get Community Creator, Halie's description and video for you are the perfect place to start. This episode is a companion a lot like the first 60 episodes of this podcast are the companions to The 60 Day Novel Writing Challenge daily videos.
Understanding the Community Creator
So what is a Community Creator, for those of you who maybe didn't get this quiz result or haven't taken the quiz yet to find out for yourself which persona you are? This is the breed of writer who, as you may have guessed, thrives on having a community of other writers not just to bounce ideas off of, but also to cheer on others in their journey. If you get more writing done when you have a writing group or critter to keep you accountable, you may be a Community Creator.
Challenges and Strengths
It often feels like writing is a solo endeavor, and that's largely true. We birth our stories in the confines of our own heads and often struggle to put them onto paper. Community Creators have a much harder time with this because they naturally thrive in a group environment and really blossom when they have other writers to help them brainstorm and pull ideas out. It's not that they *need* others to write the story, but I've seen so much creativity come from group brainstorming over one person's sticky writing issue.
Importance of Community
When Community Creators don't have a trusted critter or writing group to share both their work and their excitement with, it can start to make them wonder if it's even worth it or if their writing is good enough. It might take them years to finish a draft if they don't have the support from other writers along the same journey.
Population Insights
Community Creators are actually the smallest chunk of the population, at around 5% of the data we've seen so far. But that doesn't make them any less important! Community Creators are the ones who pump up the rest of the writing group with celebrations, excitement about the stories being told, and great ideas during brainstorming. The rest of the group benefits just as much as Community Creators do from their enthusiasm for the communal part of the writing process.
Support for Community Creators
If you are a Community Creator and thinking about taking The 60 Day Novel Writing Challenge, our small group coaching and critique program would be a perfect fit to help you spread those community-focused wings.
Closing
Stay tuned for the rest of the writing persona episodes coming out over the next few weeks! And in the meantime... haven't taken the quiz yet to find out your writing persona? Check out the link in the description to uncover what yours is, and hear directly from Halie about your result!
That's it for today's episode! If this has been helpful for you, I'd appreciate it if you left a rating or review on your platform of choice. While it does nothing for me, it does help other writers find this podcast. Thanks for joining me, and remember, the first draft is supposed to be garbage.
